Friday’s event pick: The Austin Symphony’s “Music of John Williams”

You've probably never watched "Jaws" while floating in an inner tube over murky water, right? The Alamo Drafthouse is making it easy to scare yourself silly with an outdoor screening of the movie at Texas Ski Ranch.

The scores of such beloved films as “Star Wars,” “Jurassic Park” and “Jaws” have become so iconic in their own right that we can’t imagine these movies without them. And we have composer John Williams to thank for that. The Austin Symphony Orchestra is performing highlights from Williams’ considerable oeuvre at this two-day concert series.

If you’ve bought a table seat, you can bring a picnic dinner to the Palmer Events Center, though all drinks must be purchased there.

Details: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. $30-$45. Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road. 512-476-6064, austinsymphony.org.
